Some of my earliest painting inspirations were the works of Alfredo Ramos Martínez, which I was fortunate to spend time around many of them in museums while living in Mexico City. For much of art history, portraiture was reserved for the wealthy, powerful, and royal. Mexican artists like Ramos Martínez, Rivera, and Siqueiros helped shift that tradition by painting campesinos and everyday workers with dignity and reverence. This piece carries that same spirit. A quiet reminder that ordinary lives are worthy of being seen, remembered, and celebrated.
